Pretty decent Tex-Mex grub. My mom and I came in for dinner and got lucky enough to catch happy hour, which apparently runs until 7pm every day of the week. I was under the impression that happy hour prices are only applicable in the bar area (booths and high tops are available), but I could be mistaken. We weren't in the mood to drink so I can't comment on their margaritas or anything but they seemed to have a handful of discounts on cocktails and spirits. We did indulge in complimentary chips and salsa and half priced ceviche. The ceviche was very good, although it is worth mentioning that it is not a traditional recipe. It contained capers and green olives and I believe red peppers, in addition to cilantro, onion, tomato, shrimp, baby scallops and tilapia. Different, but very enjoyable. Mom and I each ordered a set of 3 tacos that were also half price. Mom got the tacos de pastor which were shockingly spicy, as the menu does not mention any spice factor. I got the tacos de pescado (mahi mahi). Both were good, but I liked mine better. They came with jicama, cabbage and some type of spicy crema. Service was surprisingly good and attentive. We were offered refills on chips multiple times and water refills were prompt. I would come back to Cantina Laredo, but it seems happy hour in the bar is the way to go.

If you take a look around you, you will notice the clientele is entirely Caucasian (my wife and I included). Need I say more? Watered down Mexican food, with a yuppy influence at twice the price. Setting is nice, service was good but if you are looking for authentic Mexican food, this ain't it!

Very warm and cozy ambiance. Excellent and consistent food. Table side guacamole is a great, fresh start. Service can be slow at times. Minus one star for price point and portions. Location and parking accessible.

I took my wife here on a date night and we loved it. It is not Tex-Mex style Mexican food which was really refreshing. We were there at prime time and there was a bit of a wait, we waited about 20 minutes, just long enough to enjoy a Margarita each. The atmosphere was interesting and actually felt sort of festive. There was a Mirarchi band playing walking table to table taking requests. I am not sure if this is a chain or a locally owned restaurant but whatever it is, they sure hit the nail on the head, in our book. We will definitely be revisiting this restaurant in the near future as it is now probably one of our favorites. Great food plus great service equals one set of happy customers.

Love this place! The guacamole was fantastic! The margaritas were THE BEST I've had in the area....crazy good. Our waiter was awesome, the atmosphere was warm, romantic, great date night.

My wife started with the tableside made Guacamole. I'm not a fan of Guac, but my wife says their Guac is awesome! The chips and salsa were tasty. Particulary liked the warm, spicy salsa. It was happy hour when we got there so I was excited to have tons of cheap margaritas, only to find out the only discount on my house margarita was the whopping $2 off the once $9.00 margarita. I ordered the Cantina Laredo Platter. The serving size was huge. In fact the server said that most people don't finish it (as I cleaned the plate). Three out of the four items on the plate were oustanding, the fourth thing, not sure what is was, but it was some kind of huge pepper surrounded by some disgusting, soggy breading. The server was very nice and enjoyable to have as a server, but service was a little slow. Not sure if I'll be back or not, there are some other mexican fare places we would like to try next.

Nice, upscale Mexican restaurant. Food is good. Ambiance is modern. I would say it has a similar feel as Abuelo's Mexican Food Embassy.

Delicioso. Reviews are correct. Guacamole is a must have and the Mexican apple pie you MUST make room for. Apple pie served on a sizzling platter of warm goodness. Waiter Ismael was super friendly yet didn't rush us to finish. Beautiful drinks as well!

This restaurant is one of the best in Fort Myers, FL. The food is good. The service is good. The drinks are good. The restaurant is clean. The servers are courteous. Whenever you are in the mood for Mexican, check this place out.

Great carne asada! Very fresh and salsa was better than any normal Mexican place. They even have a small mariachi band that goes around and plays. Would definitely eat there again.

My boyfriend and I LOVE Mexican food so we were looking forward to finding a really good restaurant in the Fort Myers area. Let me just say the service was nothing but great and the guacamole was to die for. Other than that I was not impressed with the food. Our meals were prepared fine, but this Is definitely not the authentic Mexican food we were looking for and the food was overpriced. I am happy that we tried it but I do not think that it is worth the price we paid.

Awesome food. Enchiladas were delicious. They serve two different kinds of salsa with chips. I have been to the location in Hallandale Beach Florida which was excellent as well. The only complaint was from my friends that the lighting was dim inside, but that didn't bother me.

I ordered the Sea Bass special. It was fabulous. Tender, flaky, soft and juicy, with a slight crust. Just great! So good I returned 5 days later to have it again. Both my wife and I loved it. Great waiter both times.

Being from Texas I was looking for a good Mexican restaurant in the area and someone recommended the Cantina Laredo. Overall, it was okay, but not exceptional. The service and margaritas were great but the food was lacking. I had the fajitas which were good, but they didn't have enough flavor to be rated above average--I suppose the marinade was too bland for my taste. Another problem was that I had to ask for an order of "pico de gallo"--something that always comes with fajitas in any Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten in. The experience wasn't bad, just a bit disappointing.

Good high end Mexican food and excellent Margaritas. I don't like that Mariachi band walking through restaurant playing for tips. The table side Guacamole is excellent but a bit over priced.

    (4)
  • Skye S.

Very, very overpriced for the quality of food you receive. I was highly disappointed and I am glad I used a coupon because if I hadn't I think I would have complained and had the meal comp'd. No one I went with finished what they ordered and everyone was disappointed even with the drinks. Ft Myers has much better dinning options, even in the same parking lot.

Looked nice inside and out. We sat at the bar for a cold beer and saw a large bug crawling across the bar. Needless to say we lost our appetite and never ordered food.

The guacamole is as good as it gets!!! It's fresh, prepared in your presence. Absolutely fantastic!!! The house margaritas are okay, but if you order them with Patron...they are even better! The parrillada is my favorite and it's excellent for two people, very tasty

  • Frank P.

The food is solid, and the table-side-made guacamole is fantastic. Well worth the $10. Deserts are amazing, be sure to try the peach cake thing. That's our favorite. Margaritas were very tasty, although pricey. Portions were generous and more than ample for our expectations.

  • Trey M.

I wouldn't recommend this place. The food was bland and overpriced. I would have given 2 stars because the margaritas were good but when the roach crawled up my wife's leg I had to take another star off.

Our favorite Mexican restaurant in the Naples/Fort Myers area hands down! Great margaritas, warm tortilla chips served w mild and spicy salsa options. The fajitas come on a sizzling platter but the best is the Durango. For dessert you can't go wrong with the Mexican brownie!!! Only downside is their strolling mariachi trio who may stop by your table to sing to you. I'm not a big fav of this but others are. You'll have to decide for yourself.

    (5)
  • Frances G.

Great place if you like Mexican Food. Waiter was very attentive, they make Guacamole right at your table if you order it. Mariachis were going from table to table singing... Very cozy, romantic place. Very high end looking but prices are great!

Our second time here, holy sh$t!!! This place kills!! We tried the brunch today which came with a complimentary bloody Maria or mimosa, we had the Maria's and they were perfect, the food was perfect, service amazing, you get chips and 2 salsa's so you get full no matter what, pricey? Who gives a sh&t!! Eat here now.

Delicious , fresh, awesome food!! We had the most wonderful happy hour experience! The appetizers were amazing & half price wine by the glass was a definite plus! We made a point to speak with the manager, Daniel to advise him that Flor & David behind the bar could not have been more accommodating, they are a definite asset!! We want to thank Daniel for the "signature " Apple pie & cinnamon ice cream...we were stuffed, but graciously ate the marvelous dessert!! We can't wait to go back!!

Not a bad Mexican place. Nice dining room, we were able to get a table quickly on a Friday night. We had the tableside guacamole for an appetizer, and it was quite good. For an entree I had the Chile Relleno filled with beef, almonds, and raisins. I am a big fan of Rellenos, and I had never really had one without cheese before. I liked the flavor but the texture was a bit challenging to me, it sort of fell apart when you cut into it, as opposed to staying congealed like a proper cheese Chile Relleno does. Cantina Laredo offers a traditional style Relleno as well, I would recommend that over the one I had. The chips and salsa were pretty good too. They have two Salsas, one is spicy the other isn't. I prefer spicy salsa. I asked the waitress for more spicy Salsa. She said "Are you sure? It's really spicy." Yes I'm sure that's the one I want. "But the spicy one is really spicy. I'll bring you one of each." No I don't want one of each, I just want more spicy. "Well, the spicy one is really spicy." Look, I've tried it. See? This bowl is empty. Please bring me more spicy salsa. For the record, I am a person with high tolerance for spice, and I didn't consider the spicy salsa that spicy. And I don't like being treated like some common cracker when I'm in a Mexican restaurant. Still, this is a decent place to come for Comida Mexicana in Ft. Myers.

Best Mexican, ok quasi Mexican (Sonoran), in town. The table side guacamole is the gold standard. Great margaritas and the food is consistently good. I was a little disappointed that they had simplified the menus and removed a couple of our favorite combos.

  • Mike R.

In short: VERY overpriced for small portions of disappointing dishes... The Bad: Our 14year old waitress was very nice, but didn't have a lot knowledge of the dishes. But the main problem here is that these dishes are about a 3 out of 10 for quality and tastiness but with a 11 outta 10 prices!! I've eaten mexican food in 20 states and 5 countries and this place is not good at all! The good: margaritas are good, atmosphere is decent, but dark and loud

Very tasty! Terrific soup and tacos. Apple pie dessert with cinnamon ice cream on a hot skillet was amazing. May have to go back for lunch today.

  • Cameron C.

Overpriced for the quality is probably the lead in for this place. The food isn't bad but it is at best average. Unfortunately it is priced as an upscale eatery. There are some highlights which include table side guacamole and apple pie/brownie desserts (when done correctly). I have been three times and only one time has been good. I am in no rush for a forth visit.

I came to Ft. Myers to visit my girlfriend and the first place she wanted to take me was to Cantina Loredo for their Happy Hour which is from 4-7 pm, and also for their famous guacamole. When we arrived there on a Tuesday at about 5:00, we were told there was no room in the bar area because they were having a private party. We told the hostess that we were just there for Happy Hour. We were then seated in the dining area as far in the back as you could go. Our waiter did a great job of making the guacamole and my friends loved it, saying it was truly amazing! We ordered margaritas too and they were incredible. All total, the three of us ordered two drinks each and three appetizers. We had been told that the Happy Hour specials were half price drinks and appetizers , but when the bill came, nothing was half price! We asked to see the manager and he agreed to charge us half price for the appetizers, but the drinks were still regular price. I would have to say the food and drinks were really very good, but being seated in the far back and then being charged more than we were supposed to be, really left a sour taste in our mouths. We still gave our waiter his 20% tip, but I doubt my friends, who live in Ft. Myers, will be going back.

In all the years I've lived in Fort Myers, I have yet to find a Mexican restaurant that even comes close to Cantina. This is actually not a compliment (especially to Fort Myers). Where I previously lived, I was used to having numerous choices for Mexican food, and many better than this. That said, the food is consistently good and imaginative, if not very authentic. The margueritas are decent, but overpriced. The service is quick and friendly. Overall, one of my regular come-back spots in town.

This is a really nice Mexican Restaurant. The cost per person for meal only starts around $15.00 and goes way up from there. The home made guacamole is $9.00. There are usually lines waiting to get in for dinner. They have a great selection of tequila. If you enjoy good Mexican food than i suggest you try out the Cantina Laredo.

This is a somewhat upscale Mexican restaurant in the Bell Tower Shopping center on US 41. It is in a stand alone building across the parking lot from Saks Fifth Avenue. This is appropriate, I think, as both businesses have similar pricing structures. Three of us had a late Sunday brunch here, each of us ordering the Chorizo con Huevos at $12.99. The meal consisted of scrambled eggs with bits of chorizo in them, a sweet bun that seemed to have honey in it (this was the best part of the meal) and potatoes in the home-fry style, together with a complimentary mimosa. The eggs & chorizo were tasteless and we had to ask for hot sauce to perk them up. We've been here in the past for dinner and enjoyed ourselves, so we may give the place another chance.

Used to love this restaurant. Have been many times when visiting ft Myers. Our dinner was such a disappointment this time may not go back. Our dinner was served while eating our appetizers. Our guac was made before our drinks were served. The waitress did not know how to describe dishes and we felt rushed. Over $100 for dinner that was microwaved

Gauc tableside was just ok. got the ceviche with a lot of fresh chopped jalapenos on the side. it was ok as well. everyone else at the table said their meals were ok, from chicken fajitas to tacos, and a burrito. when i texted my sister where we were at i got this....Boo, we used to go there for lunch in dallas sometimes, ok but not outstanding. i agree. pricey as well.

Stopped there for lunch with my daughter. The food was very good and the service was excellent. I had the lunch fajitas and she had beef tacos. We found the chips plentiful and the salsa was very good. I will return in the future to try other menu items.

I am giving this place 3 stars because of the excellent service otherwise it would only get 2. There is no such thing as upscale Mexican food. Everything here is pretty run of the mill Mexican except the prices. VERY high. I had a half order of Nachos and they were good but were they $8 good I think not. And $10 for guacamole??? I don't care that you make it table side that is crazy.

My Wife is nuts for this place. It was very good. The steak enchiladas were excellent and she had the Camaron Poblano Asada. She almost fell out of the booth. The sauce was awesome. The only thing in the whole place that could be done better was the margarita's and the price. HIGHLY recommended.

I've probably eaten at Cantina Laredo more than 10 times, and I've yet to have a bad meal. Actually, I've yet to have something that I didn't think was really good - this is one of my favorite restaurants in Fort Myers. That's saying something, since I'm no fan of chain restaurants. This is one of the only places where I would pay for guacamole as an appetizer; not only do you get the table-side show (they make it right in front of you), it's mighty tasty. It actually inspired me to make my own guacamole at home! As I said, I've enjoyed everything I've tried, from steak to enchiladas to the picadillo. I'm picky about mole sauce, and Cantina Laredo is one of the few places where I will order mole. It's been a long time since I've ordered dessert here (I usually can't finish my entree) but I recall the chocolate cake being yummy. While I love eating at cheap taquerias, sometimes you want nice ambiance and a good margarita along with your Mex. Cantina Laredo fills the bill perfectly without breaking the bank.

Ok so I have a bias opinion just because I am originally from Chicago and some of the best Mexican restraunts reside there, that being said the whole experience was not half bad, lets start from the restraunt itself:very nice decor very roomy and the ambience is very authentic, chips and salsa at the table were very good. I ordered the happy hour margarita and had 2 of them- mistake ....woke up with a headache, should have upgraded the tequila. Food we order beef fajitas not bad carne asada little chewy and enchiladas ok over all the dinner was not bad little pricey spent a little over $110 with a $5.00 kids meal. I will be back unless someone could please find a better place! Next stop Masa in Naples

This place was good but nothing special in my book as far as authentic Mexican food. I ordered table side guacamole which was good but again nothing special to me. The spicy pork tacos were quite good though. The salsa was just Ok. I may come here again if in the area.

HI! here is my 2 cents with some chit chat. First it is very pretty. BUT way over price. I was in the area and was offered a free appetiser. Queso Laredo. It is priced at 10 bucks, it is that cheese in a bottle at the chips display that you find in a grocery store. It is served in a soup bowl with a bit of chopped tomatoes & onions. Along with mass produce chips. The chips were light and warmed. I was also given to salsa they seemed to be made in house. They were ok. I did ask for hotter stuff and got it. Smokey and made me sweat. Delish. I also got a sweet tea. 3 bucks for this!!!! My to go to dish in a mexican eatery is the chili rellenos. It was served with rice and a medley of vegetables on the side. Rice thumbs up veggies OK. I am usually given 2 peppers filled with cheese. Here I was offered beef, chix, or cheese. I got the beef. IT was big I must admit. It like 2 peppers melded together. But it was terrible they had mixed a bit of cinnamon with it. Over all flavor yuck. I had chili rellenos at a lower price ( here its 14 bucks) at 2 other local mom and pop places that were to die for. Here no.. Coming from California I know good mexican food. This is not. The decor is great. I thought the staff was outstanding. But this is a touristy type place for folks who want entertainment not real experience or great food. So if you have a big wallet lack of good taste for real mexican food come on down . This is for you.

We just had dinner for the first time at Cantina Laredo and were quite pleased. We have tried a few "Mexican" places in SW FL over 3 winters here, but this one's menu is the closest to the food we ate while on a culinary vacation in Mexico a few years back. As others have noted, the interior (and exterior, for that matter) is well maintained and comfortable. The tables are spaced well to allow for easy movement and discussion. The decor is tasteful and all the tables were cleanly set; we didn't see any messes waiting to be tidied. We didn't visit the restrooms so cannot comment on that aspect. We (myself, my hubby and his visiting brother) arrived about 6:30 on a Monday evening the week after Easter. The restaurant was not busy and we were seated immediately. Our server, Carlos, brought chips and salsa, took our drink order and promised to come back to make us guacamole. We also ordered a cup of chili con queso. All three of us liked both salsas which were much more like *real* Mexican salsas than most restaurants serve. The flavors focused more on chilies than tomatoes, and everything had been roasted before blending. The milder salsa was a bit chunky while the hotter was quite smooth. The chips were thin, warm and super crispy with just the right salt ratio. Carlos asked how we liked the salsas, then brought us more of the hotter one along with another very hot and thick salsa that apparently is not a standard offering. The long-time Californian in our group really loved that one - "the hotter, the better" is his motto. Tableside guacamole was prepared to our tastes, with Carlos adding all of each ingredient that was offered. It was a very generous portion, completely filling the molcajete in which it was prepared and served. The con queso was creamy and hot and disappeared quickly. Entrees were ginormous and nicely presented. The cascabel ribeye was ordered medium rare and came with a mostly red center. It was nearly fork tender with very little fat, and the char-grilled flavor was excellent. The cascabel sauce was much more than just spicy in flavor; it was mildly sweet and nearly a caramelized glaze that perfectly complimented the beef. This entree was served with grilled asparagus spears and a potato/cheese casserole sort of like a gratin. Camarones relleno was a big poblano stuffed full of firm and fresh shrimp, mushrooms, veggies and cheese, topped with avocado and served with rice. The Cantina Laredo Platter was easily enough to feed two, possibly three, hungry people, and most of it is now sitting in our fridge at home. It contained a massive chili relleno, a tamale, an enchilada and a taco, along with a heaping pile of rice. The only issue with this entree was that the taco, while very generous in beef, was a bit on the well done side. I didn't see it reheating well tomorrow so I ate that and left most of the rest since I could barely move after so much food. Of course, that didn't stop me from having a few bites of the dessert that the guys ordered! We saw another table enjoying the Mexican brownie, so we had to have one as well. It was the biggest brownie any of us had ever seen, probably 4" cubed, topped with a comparably sized ball of vanilla ice cream. All this was placed on a hot cast iron skillet, and Carlos poured a small pitcher of caramel sauce onto the skillet, resulting in a steamy and aromatic facial for the diners. It was delicious and extremely decadent. The only thing I regret is not having ordered a margarita or a sangria; they looked beautiful when delivered to a neighboring table and would have been a delight with our meals. Also, I would like to note that Carlos was very knowledgeable and friendly, and he helped us decide on entrees by elaborating on several dishes that we were considering. He stopped by often for drink refills and to see how we were doing, and he was graceful and professional in delivering every item to our table. We will ask for him next time we visit. I didn't realize this place was part of a chain until looking at the menu just now to write a proper review. It's good to know we can enj

Love this place! My favorite place for chips, guacamole and salsa!!! I went here for dinner one night and then drinks and apps mother time. Both great experiences with friendly attentive staff! The tacos are yummy and very filling. But the guacamole is AMAZING. It is made tables side so super fresh and enough for 3-4 ppl to enjoy. They also have thin crispy chips and two salsas- one hot and one mild. It is in a convenient central location. Right at the Bell Tower Shopping center. Plenty of parking me the inside of the hotel is beautiful! Great place for a date, group outing or a family meal. Give it a try!

Another box style chain restaurant in Fort Myers, but it certainly is one of the better ones. Laredo carries all your standard Mexican fare with a large variety of tacos, enchiladas, and soups. I have dined here quite a few times and I have to say, the kitchen can be a bit inconsistent, they never put out anything bad, it's just some nights are better than others. Sometimes there is so much salt that you can almost feel the water rushing into your blood vessels. Service is always good, friendly, and quick. The place is a bit to dimly lit for my taste. Overall, Laredo is not a place I get excited about, but it's not bad either.

First timers and we weren't disappointed, love thin chips! Our server Hector was knowledge and made excellent guacamole! I ordered the shrimp salad w/extra jicama...yummy! Hector recommended the chimichanga (which wasn't on the menu) and it was fabulous.

I have yet to be disappointed with the level of service or quality of food at Cantina Laredo in Fort Myers. This is my favorite place to go for margaritas and enchiladas with tomatillo sauce. When you arrive at your table they're always quick to serve you your chips and salsa. There are two types of salsa that are extremely tasty; a roasted tomatillo (mild) and a hot bean (hot) salsa. I typically order either a margarita or a mojito to drink, both of which are refreshing. A warning to those who are faint of heart, their drinks are strong! And I mean this in a good way. They don't use a lot of mixers and make their drinks with top shelf liquor; so no need to drown the bottom shelf tequila in that nasty green margarita mix! I've eaten here more than a handful of times and my favorite dish as of yet is the Enchiladas Veracruz; enchiladas with a spicy, green tomatillo sauce. Fajitas are always well-seasoned and a group favorite to share. If you ever save room for dessert, get the brownie! They bring it out in a hot skillet so the brownie is hot and the ice cream melts pretty fast.

I cannot express how disappointed I am...take my girlfriend and her son for her birthday...Hector the server was good...the food was absolutely the worst I've had...the first plates we had were old...asked for fresh...brought us back the same microwaved plates...asked again to have FRESH DAMN FOOD...came back terrible once again...and mind you its her birthday so what'd they do???? Oh bought her desert....I wish I could give a negative number. Never will I go again...and I'm in the business so I know proper procedures and protocol. 5 thumbs down

Mexican? Mex-Mex? Tex-Mex. Florida-Mex? Flotexmex? Whatever you want to call it, it was great; the best Mexican i've had in the area to date. -Drinks Do you make a good house margarita? Yes. Do you make a really good classic margarita with Patron? Very yes. Others? Yes. I've been on a red sangria kick lately, and the blood orange sangria was tops. Huge glass, less than $8. What?! -Chips & Salsa This part of the meal seemed to follow us from the front door - not 2 seconds after we sat down we got chips and two salsas. Pro tip: MIX the mild and the hot. Chips were thin and not greasy at all. A+. -Ambiance Guys with guitars, singing? Check. -Food Ahi Tuna Tacos, Quesadillas, Tampico. Recommend: all, and next time i'd get the cheese on the side of the Tampico, or just a little less of it. To try next time: Anything with a mole sauce on it, table side guac (the guac that came with the quesadillas was great so I imagine table side is even better), and some sort of dessert. -Sadface No churros to be found.

Stopped in here for some dinner before catching a movie. Excellent service and very good food. I had the Tacos de Pescado (Mahi Mahi) and they were amazing!

Ok, where do I start? When I walked In I didn't know this was going to be an upper scale Mexican Gourmet restaurant so I was a bit shocked at that... People were dressed nice like they were out on dates. Not a bad thing of course, but if I would have known I would have went home and freshened up a bit. I was out all day shopping and dressed down with a messy bun on my head so I was a little uncomfortable. Surprise for me!Greeeat! Anyways, no biggie.. Once I got a margarita in me, it was all good. Half way through it, I was talking up a storm and forgot all about it. It was ladies hour and top shelf margaritas were only $5, and they were strong. I Came in just at the right time. 2 points for me! I must have been having a good time because the bartender gave me an extra one on the house. 2 xtra points for me. So, the food.. I ordered the burrito Vera Cruz and my guest ordered Taco de Pollo Cascabel, which is spicy chicken tacos On soft corn tortillas with marinated onions and queso fresco. I did try a bite and from what I tasted they were good. Chicken was seasoned very well and tender. They were served with rice and black beans. I can't say much about them because it wasn't my meal but my guest really enjoyed them. We even took an extra order to go for someone at home. I ordered the Burrito Vera Cruz. When it came out I was a bit worried. I did not like the look of them. Presentation I thought was messy. I couldn't even see the burritos with all the mess going on on top with the tortilla strips and queso fresco . There was also supposed to be a tomatillo sauce on top which there was, but u couldn't see that either with all the stuff going on on top. I was like oh lord, what is this? Please let it be good... Well, it was! Pheew! Once I cut Into it I saw chicken, cheese, spinach all start to fall together . The flavor was great! The tomatillo sauce was nice and spicy! I love spicy! I was pretty impressed. The zucchini vegetables were also good. Not over cooked but very firm, lightly cooked and well seasoned, also had spice. The only thing that was not that great was the rice, but I never eat the rice anyway so it didn't matter to me. Chips and salsa is always good. Their salsa was great. Seems homemade, but I could be wrong. Pretty positive it's house made though. Really good! Server was awesome. Overall , good first time experience and will be back when in the area.

Two words: yum yum. They put meat and lots of it into their enchiladas along with a great cheese sauce. Most places you might get a hint of meat but not here. Took a pic but it didn't look right. Half eaten food looks well I'm not going there. They make a green stuff call guacamole at your table awesome. Waiters are missing the boat here. They should always check the level of chips left in your bowl and ask if you want more. Just saying!! We'll be back and yes I'll ask for more chips

Drinks are awesome!!! Food is just eh. I had a quesadilla and I didn't even eat half because it was so greasy. Nachos are really good and the red sangria is super tasty. Great place for a group to go drinking

Definitely pass! Unfortunately most of the restaurants on the island are owned by the same group so you get mediocre service and food and not much can be done about it for lack of competition. But Cantina....no one was there, we should have taken that into consideration but sat at the bar to try a taco. The meat was full of paprika and inedible. The beans and rice had so much cumin in it that I couldn't touch that either. The salsa was big chunks of tomato but since I like tomato I was OK with that. They only have a beer and wine license so you can't even get a real margarita. The guys in the kitchen spent most of their time while we ate watching TV....believe me, they SHOULD have been cleaning!

The guacamole was so salty that we couldn't taste any avocado, tomato or cilantro. It was exchanged very pleasantly, and without any spice and it was delicious! The enchiladas were too salty also. For the money we paid, j would not return except for happy hour drinks. The marguerites and chips were good.

Coming from Texas, I am very picky on "tex-mex".. it just isn't the same anywhere else. Cantina Laredo is the closest I've found to authentic tex-mex. The food is great! You can actually get legitimate Chili con carne on your food which is unusual for most places outside of Texas. Maybe that is because cantina Laredo was started in Laredo, Texas. As far as Florida goes, this is the closest I've come to real tex-mex. I would recommend the cheese enchiladas... The come with Chili con carne on them.

Awesome fresh-made guacamole right at the table! The rest of the food was okay. I haven't eaten there in a few years.

This was the most authentic Mexican restaurant we have found in Ft. Myers. The food was adequate, not great. They offer mole, which is usually difficult to find in an American Mexican restaurant Food was cold. Had to send it back. Came back to me warmed up. We'll probably go again. Maybe an off day.

I always enjoy going to Cantina Laredo when visiting my dad. It's a well decorated and clean place with nice staff. The food is usually pretty good and the prices are pretty standard. My favorite part is having the guacamole made in front of me. My favorite entree would be the enchiladas suiza. A great dessert to try is the brownie. I like to sit in the bar area. It's lively and there are some TVs in view. Overall, it's a nice place to check out for dinner or drinks.

I was not so impressed by this restaurant. We went for lunch. First off, the hostess had the personality of a wet noodle...no smile or friendly welcome. The inside appears reminiscent of an old steakhouse with carpet and dark brown & black coloring throughout. The ambiance is definitely not a fresh looking and lighthearted atmosphere for drinking margaritas and hanging out with friends. It is rather stiff and dreary with no Fla sunlight coming through. The food is overpriced and underwhelming. I might be spoiled by the comparable "upscale" Mexican options in Atlanta, but both my hubby and I were just "meh" by the overpriced food. The $10 guacamole wasn't worth it and we had to add a lot of salt to get the flavor right. You pay to watch it made at the table and they use one avocado, so don't expect much if you come here with 4 people. The salsa was fresh but not crave worthy. The cost of the margaritas is ridiculous. Service was good. Water refills came slowly though.

Just had a wonderful lunch, Margaritas were excellent on a hot day like today. Our Queso Fundido and Tacos Barbacoa were smashing. Will come again and also recommend for those with craving for great Mexican food!

We've been frequent guests at the Cantina Laredo in Jacksonville and we liked this one better. Love the thin chips and salsa. Sangrias were excellent. The chicken fajitas were great and ample enough that wife and I split one. Server was prompt and friendly.

Excellent meal and service. Got the quail, shrimp, carnita, chicken, and steak fajitas. Big enough for 2. It was really good. Everything fresh, very clean restaurant, and everybody Eagar to serve. Son had Chicken anchilada and wife had Chimichanga. Fellas go around and play traditional music for tips. We have been in several times. Always good.

Cantina Laredo is a little nicer than your casual mexican restaurant - this is a linen napkin restaurant. I felt a little under-dressed when I walked in with my t-shirt and shorts outfit. I sat at the bar, which also had linen napkins and the big tri-fold menus. I was greeted warmly by the staff. The guys at the bar and the servers had the Barca futbol game on and we were chatting about some of the biggest names in soccer/futbol. Really nice environment, relaxed ambiance, upscale decor,so do not come under-dressed. Oh yeah, and the margarita was alright, but I also ordered one of the cheaper margaritas on the menu.

Highly recommended! Fresh, delicious table side guacamole and probably the best cilantro chicken fajita salad that I've ever had! Superb margaritas and great service! Will definitely be back on my next visit to Fort Myers.

some good some not so good. Some of the people were very nice and some were just not having interaction with customers. I was here for lunch, and had just came in the door, where the manager saw me, then went to the bathroom before returning to the table he said "thanks for being here I hope you come gain" to which I replied, well, we're just getting here and you greeted us about a minute ago. OK, momentary lapse, it happens to all of us. Had a wonderful server . Shout out to Ischmael...lively and flexible with our order. THe food was some good, some not so much. Began with tamarind lemonade and rum...nice drink, tho i prefer more tamarind. Second was was spot on! Fresh guac.awesome and salsas as well. I had a pork enchilada (just ask, they will do it)..which was flavorful and the shredded pork was seasoned to perfection. Came with yellow rice and a side ramequin of black beans with white cheese atop. Cheese wonderful! I asked for chopped onions and to my delight was asked if i would like white or purple. Went with the white. Added onions to beans and mixed with rice (a traditional way that i eat my rice and beans). The combination was pasty...the yellow rice did not hold up to the beans, that were too thick to combine properly. I think the rice should be white, and the beans should be qa bit soupy. This would keep things more authentic and yummy. My friend had a chicken dish and was expecting shredded but got a big pied of breast with cheese and the sauce was non-descript. Espresso is Italian style...i was hoping for a plain old cuban....sigh. Had some flan that was so smooth and gelatinous I knew it could not have been made from scratch. And what happened to flan that has a thick caramel layer on the bottom like mom made? sigh...... So, to recap, server awesome...pork great..good guac altho 9.99 for one avocado is a bit pricey? .nice environment, but too Americanized for my taste. on the way out i spoke to at least two servers (adios...buenos tardes, thank you, and so long!) and got only blank stares no replies. Certainly didn't feel like any Mexican restaurant I'd ever experienced in the actual country....ok in a pinch, but next time I crave Mexican I'll just cook at home.

Had the combination platter with chile relleno, spinach enchilada, and a chicken enchilada with mole sauce. Everything was awesome. Salsas were really tasty - chips nice and thin and crispy. Flan was awesome. Mojito very tasty as was the ginger-ritA - not very boozy so if you are looking or something more boozy - go for standard margarita on the rocks! Jefet was our server - very gracious!

My fiancé and I were seeking an alternative dining area for Mexican food. Luckily, we discovered Cantina Laredo. The moment you walk in - your entire standard for atmosphere changes. It's a beautiful, dark setting for anyone looking to dine classy but casual. There's a Mexican band serenading to the people, and a lively clientele with great expectations. Complimentary chips and salsa as well as the house margaritas created a riveting experience. The service was beyond anything I could ask for. The food.. Top quality. Worth the price. Get the Apple Pie dessert as well. You won't regret it.

Just went here last night on an impromptu dinner with the Mrs. Very good experience. Staff was friendly upon arrival. Waiter was excellent. Multiple members of the staff came to check in on us. Bar is just gorgeous. Jon Taffer would be proud! Table side guacamole was incredible. Good price $9.99 and unlimited chips and salsa. You even got two sides of salsa too - one hot and spicy the other cold and mild. Very nice. Overall very happy with food, service, atmosphere and staff. Would return and recommend!

Best service I have ever received from a restaurant. Got seated right away and the second we sat down a waiter was with us immediately. We ordered and the food came out within 5 min tops! And to top it off the food was delicious! I recommend the queso dip.

Came here for lunch today and had the fish tacos. They were great. Would definitely come back and order them again. They came with rice and beans. My mom had the fajitas and they were good as well. They serve chips and salsa which were yummy. Warm, light chips. Service was good too.

Avocado and artichoke enchiladas were delicious and served with a great jicama and mango slaw. light and different from usual Mexican fare. They make good margaritas and the dos equis amber is always ice cold. We have loved this place for over 10 years. Hadn't been recently so I was glad to see it was up to speed. To the remark about the decor. This restaurant isn't supposed to be competitions for the tiresome mexican chains with their fiesta atmosphere. When it opened the manager told me they designed it to reflect a higher end restaurant in Mexico City. If you live here year round you welcome something without the tropical decor.

This place looks great on the outside but when you enter the restaurant the atmosphere is quite disappointing. I was looking for more of a contemporary decor Mexican style and as well the food was disappointing. Not the best Mexican food and the drinks weren't that good don't remember any alcohol being there. What I did like was the apple pie that was delicious drizzle in bourbon caramel sauce the best.

Really getting tired of restaurants who use way too much salt in everything. Especially for Non-smokers whose taste buds aren't destroyed. Kinda gross and I'm not even an old lady trying to stay away from salt. But for real, it wasn't worth it when the cheapest entree that you're gonna most likely order is 16.99.

Three friends and I decided to try out Cantina Laredo for dinner. none of us had ever been there before so but we were all pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is more refined and tasteful then any of the other Mexican style rester aunts in the area. Very nice bar and we arrived in time for the 2 for 1 House margarita specials which were very tasty. We all shared fresh tortilla chips with 2 kinds of salsa 1 fresh and 1 made with roasted chilies which were both delicious. We ordered the top shelf guacamole which is brought to your table on a cart an prepared to your liking before your eyes. Way cool. Two of us ordered the house special Camaron Poblano Asada dish, a Carne asada steak wrapped around a poblano pepper filled with sautéed shrimp, mushrooms, onions and monterey jack cheese, served on a bed of chimichurri sauce. Mine was rare like I ordered and fantastic. Enchiladas De Camarones (shrimp) and Enchiladas De Espinaca (spinich) also seemed to be enjoyed by my friends. For desert we were treated to another show as 2 flaming coffees were prepared table side. NEAT. Blue flames pretty. Def. worth a return trip.

I absolutely love this chain. They have excellent Mexican food- not the typical fare but moderately authentic upscale Mexican dining. The carnitas tacos are very tasty- love the chipotle wine sauce. You also need to try their deserts- either the Mexican Brownie or Apple Pie are prepared table side with sizzling brandy butter.

I had dinner for the first time at this restaurant upon the recommendation of a co-worker. The chips and salsa were excellent. The chips were warm, light and crisp. The salsa was one of the better salsas that I've had (similar to Chili's in consistency). The tortilla soup was very good. It had good size pieces of white chicken meat, a slice of avocado, cheese and sour cream on the side. I had the fish special of the day which was the grouper Veracruz. The grouper was a nice piece of fish that was a nice thickness, was nice and firm and tasted excellent. It was a little on the spicy side, which I loved! It came with a side of rice and a side of mixed vegetables that consisted of sliced potatoes, green beans and zucchini. I stopped short of splurging on dessert but their house specialties, the brownie and the apple pie on sizzling plate with ice cream sounded like they were to die for! Maybe next time I'll go just for dessert and I can update this post! I will definitely eat here again.

EXCELLENT- it was all amazingly good!!!! The service was great, the drinks were delish & the food was oh so fresh. The chips were good, thin and crunchy and both salsas were very good. We started out with drinks- Margaritas & Mojitos- excellent! The on to the food-My husband had the fish of the day...which was cooked to perfection and served with the house green beans & rice. The green beans were wonderful- both my husband & I could have had a plate just of those. I had the 3 taco plate which was 3 tacos, one carnitas (pork), one pollo (chicken) & one carne (beef) all served rolled with a dipping bowl of amazing melted cheese - I also had perfectly seasoned black beans & of course the rice. My friend had the two taco combo (one carne & one pollo) with their special house beans which she said were spicy but not hot - she said they were perfect and of course the Spanish rice ...we all had the flan...yum yum-We would all go back in a heartbeat.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
